* fix: Address review feedback

I tried to simplify and make this more maintainable:

- Rename functions, like _get_schemas, so they are
  more approachable.
- Code comments in _extend_schema_lines to show
  the goal and reduce mental load.
- Emphasize "for search" in comments and names.
