* docs: address review feedback on Component.add Google-Style PR

- Move 1072 changelog entry to news/1072.documentation (towncrier).
- Add explicit `-> None` return type annotation to Component.add.
- Add Returns block to docstring so Sphinx renders the return type.
- Rebase on upstream/main.
