fix(cave): use !== undefined checks in update controller

Truthy checks (if (value)) silently dropped falsy values like
isDiving=false, depth=0, etc. Replaced with !== undefined to
correctly distinguish 'not provided' from 'provided with falsy value'.

Closes #1514
