Get basic distance string parsing working

Summary:
This was a bit of a hack coding session. I got the distance parsing tests
passing, but introduced some lousy code, some untested code paths, and left a bunch of
TODOs strewn about. I need to get more tests in place and then clean up this mess I made.
Also consider inlining the PaceUnits class with the Distance class.
