Update dependencies and improve error handling (#759)

- Updated `go.mod` and `go.sum` to use newer versions of dependencies, including `cobra`, `pflag`, `golang.org/x/crypto`, and others for improved compatibility and security.
- Bump in dependencies revealed over clever lint for format strings, the lib internally formatted or not, but the new linter is pesky required some changes for simple messages on reports.

- Replaced `fmt.Sprintf` calls with a new helper function `formatLabel`
- Simplified report generation and status handling by introducing `NewSimpleReport` that pacify the linter.
