feat: readability changes and stability (#510)

* adds max size to push buffer as people could OOM
* catch error on unbind as we were not covering that
* separate tests into multiple files
* increase coverage by adding missing test cases
* removal of sinon in favor of only using vitest
* bump up dependencies with npm audit fix
