Apply new elvis rules to further directories (#256)

* Apply new elvis rules to further directories

Note that the directory was not wildcard matching children dirs and
therefore there were many modules that were not being linted.

* Use macros for timeouts

* Reuse request_error_event in tcp/udp handlers

* Prefer split lines over shor names

8 of 24 new or added lines in 7 files covered. (33.33%)

1165 of 1445 relevant lines covered (80.62%)
