Simplify CI build (#584)

* Configure Maven Central as distribution repository.
* Replace bash build scripts by simple github actions workflow.
* Try to use the correct jdk toolchain for compilation.
* Use maven compiler plugin version from plugin management
* Simplify maven plugin management and selectively activate plugins in profiles.
* Use coveralls auto-repo-token from environment.
