Minor Refactoring  (#78)

* removed outdated use of torch backend selection in case when use_gpu is set to true
* removed the gpu_verbose argument
* getting rid of print statements in favor of logging module and getting rid of verbose argument from individual functions
* getting rid of use_rep and extract data matrix
* always returning log
