Add iterator filter support; unit test cleanup

Add support for attaching a filter to an iterator. Filters are
functions that "prescreen" results as they are consumed: when a
filter returns false for a particular item, the iterator will
automatically advance to the next item and try it instead.
Filters are respected for both `seek` and `next` operations;
a `seek(_key)` operation will advance to the first item after
`_key` that matches the filter.

This changeset also tidies up tests, removing a handful of
properly-redundant `.should.eventually.be.fulfilled` calls.
