refactor: Refactor max-related code in multiple files

- Improve code clarity and consistency by renaming variables and removing unused functions
- Increase efficiency of the `bruteSolution()` function in [003.longest-substring/main.go]
- Remove unnecessary `max` function in [053.maximum-subarray/exhaustive.go]
- Keep track of maximum substring length in [003.longest-substring/main.go] instead of the whole substring
- Overall code improvements and clean up in multiple files.
