Commit Message

Fix retry time out error.

When the same function is entered multiple times, an unexpected time out
error is reported.

The root cause is that each function call should has it's own
`event_holder`.  Move event holder within the wrapper function to fix
this.

Other changes including:

* Pop the version to 0.1.7.
* Remove some dead code.
* Add test cases for invalid parameter type.
* Add package versions for test dependencies.
