Refactor benchmarks (#1093)

This deals with one of the anti-patterns in our code base: multiple
places `switch` on `cfg.Benchmark`, making it harder to add new
benchmarks and to follow the flow.

This commit introduces a `Benchmark` interface which handles
initializing benchmark-specific components depending on the
configuration.
