Remove testEvent, assertTypesMatch from sns_test

The CI build broke because `go vet` caught these unused symbols. Running
`go vet` locally via `make static-checks` caught it, too, but I'm
surprised the VS Code plugin didn't catch it. Oh well, always run `make
test` before pushing.
