Remove some more unreachable code.

I was concerned about the way that splice works in javascript, so I added these lines while
I was trying to debug my first implementation.

Coverage shows these never being executed, so I am getting rid of them until I can prove
that they're actually needed, but I think that they only were accidentally, anyway.
