Commit Message

Use the database session directly

One nice side effect of faster database tests through the use of
PostgreSQL SAVEPOINTS is that we can simply prepare every test to use
the database with no noticeable slowdown.

We no longer need to explicitly use the `db_session` test fixture to
access the database session.
