Allow clients to merge headers for api calls

because: some clients will want to specify custom headers on http requests when using this wrapper. this is currently only possible if the end user also overrides our default headers (i.e., user-agent).

this commit: introduces a new options field called additionalHeaders which will be merged into the default headers. users can now add headers without overriding the defaults or override the default if desired.
