Data interpretation now matches auto-selection behavior

Auto-selection generates correct queries when an object field is
selected without any explicit fields, however since the selection list
was empty, it was not finding the field when data was given to the type.

This patch handles empty selection lists with an auto-selection using
the default depth, which should match the results.

It's not the ideal usage, but may help some simpler use cases.
