cleaning up calls to lists:foldl (#414)

* replacing lists:fold with list comprehension

* using flatmap in place of foldl

* flatmap call cleanup:
rename _List and remove the empty list pattern

* replacing foldl with vectorclock:min for calculating the minimum commit time

* using lists:foreach in place of unnecessary fold

* using lists:map in place of unnecessary fold

* replacing two folds with list comprehensions:
The order of the intermediate results have changed, but this does not impact the function logic
