now works with new NHM elasticsearch backend

could be extended to work with standard SQL backend by subclassing Query() class and adding a config option to specifiy datastore backend type.
- moved some utility methods out to new utils.py file
- fixed validators
- new Query classes for retrieving results
- has not been tested on very large datasets; scripting in the date graphs means it may be slow
- probably needs some investigation into caching
