cscott<a href="https://github.com/wikimedia/parsoid/commit/a66aad7d6">More rigorous wt2html UTF-8 validity checking Check all wikitext input (via checks in tokenizer) and check all HTML output (via checks in XMLSerializer). As a finer-grained check, all substrs based on DSR/TSR offsets use PHPUtils::safeSubstr(). This is mostly done via SourceRange::substr() and DomSourceRange::innerSubstr(), but a few places which didn't use these helpers (usually because we're mix-and-matching offsets) have been updated to make this a consistent practice.
