perf: #25 Improve performance.

1. Store the text in an array instead of a string.
2. Short circuit the updateInternalState checks when the char isn't in a set of chars that could affect the state.
3. Target ES2015.

BREAKING CHANGE: Library now targets ES2015 instead of ES5.
