Repair editing patch with no diff

There are two hazards when attempting `stg edit --diff` on an empty patch.
The first is that diffstat() fails on empty patches. The second is that
applying an empty patch also fails.

The repair is to add tests to avoid both trying to diffstat and apply empty
diffs.
