- Update the stat()-check to just look at defined($size=(stat())[7]), and avoid the __WARN__ handling, which had problems in 5.16-5.20
  - hopefully, test suite will be at 100% passing now
- Update documentation and error messages to consistently use "vertexes" as the plural of "vertex" (to emphasize that it's the plural of an object-like-thingy)
