Repo status tests (#1045)

* Start testing repo status messages

* Added tests for detached head and initial commit

* Add tests for long branch status text

This text is used in the dashboards

* Usually do NOT test implementation details

* Convert '\x00' to '\n'

Must be reverted after `optimize-status-interface` lands.

* Fix branch parsing before initial commit

Fixes #1043

* Just use `On branch ...` before the initial commit

In the dashboards we already show `HEAD: No commits yet.`
so it is not necessary to special-case the branch naming
here.

* Fix lint error by ignoring ;-)

* Update tests: `git status` uses `-z` now

Before #1033 we did a mixture of '-z' calls and non '-z' calls.
Using '-z' means git will output '\x00' control chars instead
of (more human readable) '\n's.
