test: bring test coverage to 100%

Clean up odds and ends:

* Add unit tests for compress_pruned() and @lazyproperty

* pragma out some conditional imports.

* pragma out an unexercised function in lru_cache decorator.

* pragma out function_mock(). We'll probably use that later, but no need
  to have test for it in the meantime.

* Remove skipped test. There's no place for skipped tests for
  unimplemented items. A unit test comes in when its unit does.

* Remove unused unit fixture.
