Switching to CAS backed authentication

Instead of user signup, I'm switching to the typical CAS backed login.
This means several of the tests get removed, because they dealt with
user registration.

It has also meant that I've unearthed a few tests that were persisting
User objects (unbeknownst to me). Those changes have been added. In an
ideal world, these tests would not require a persisted user.
