3D viewer: be more fault tolerant in code executed after destruction

There are situations where a 3D Viewer is closes quickly after it has
been opened and skeletons have been added. An example is opening the
split dialog accidentally and closing it again before the relevant
skeleton is loaded. Some asynchronous code is executed after the widget
was destructed. This prevents such code from accessing the space object
after its destruction.
