Assume backward-compatible consumer protocol version (fix #313) (#327)

* Assume backward-compatible consumer protocol version (fix #313)

Assignment versions are assumed to be backward-compatible in the
official clients. This should provide better interop with future
Kafka consumers (+ as a side-effect, play nice with buggy consumers
that report versions >0 but use the version 0 data structures).

* Fix some invalid test payloads
