Make sure our inheritance hierarchy satisfies Liskov substitution principle

- let IO member functions call the corresponding base class function in case the
  class can't successfully read a given file format
- make a distinction between 1-manifold and 2-manifold
- make a distinction between a segment boundary in an EdgeSet and a surface
  boundary in a mesh
- no longer invalidate EdgeSet::insertEdge() in SurfaceMesh, thereby allowing
  edges without incident faces
- update SurfaceMesh::deleteEdge() to call EdgeSet::deleteEdge() for edges
  without incident faces
- simplify EdgeSet::isOneManifold() by re-using EdgeSet::valence()
