Simplify and document node scripts TG-103

The scripts have been simplified with async/await and documented.

`jsdoc.json` has been modified to include the `scripts` directory in the
generated source code documentation. The `docs:src:watch` task has been
updated to also watch for changes in the `scripts` directory.
