Make s2s files pass elivs checks (#1515)

* Refactor some functions

Split some functions, pointed by elvis, into smaller ones in order
to decrease their nesting level.

* Remove 'if' expressions

Replace the 'if' expressions with 'case' expressions and
functions calls

* Improve code style

  - break too long lines
  - use module names explicitly instead of using macros
  - use custom defined type instead of record in spec

* Refactor some functions in order to decrease their nesting level
