Refactor out _labeled_array_comprehension

Refactors out code from `labeled_comprehension` into a utility function
`_labeled_array_comprehension`. This should more generally help solve
problems where a `labeled_comprehension` solution almost works, but the
restriction of having to return a scalar is too tight. Makes use of this
utility function in `labeled_comprehension` as well. This provides a
good test that this change works as intended.
