In fact it didn't fix anything. It would retry the request, but since the stream was exhausted it would just hang until the client closed the connection. This meant that the upload was still failing, but instead of getting an informative message, we got a 500 ClientResponseError. Weak. I don't have a good way to fix this now without keeping a copy of the data around for retrying purposes.
