Keep all tests from both branches:
- test_invalid_filter_regex_is_rejected (from main)
- test_non_string_regex_filter_value_is_rejected (from main)
- test_valid_regex_filter_still_selects_matching_items (from main)
- test_date_range_endpoint_filters_on_string_dates (from PR branch)
