Correct descriptions of some functions

Due to the fact that before version 1.2.3.0 of ‘directory’ package,
‘canonicalizePath’ had unpredictable behavior when called on
non-existent paths, our assumption that it throws ‘isDoesNotExistError’
in these cases was also incorrect — this commit clarifies the situation.
