- **smaller, cosmetic changes**
  - changed supported python versions 3.9-3.12
  - changed formatting of the version.sh script
  - fixed a small typo in the CHANGELOG.md
  - adapted the output in README.md to reflect version changes
  

- **update type checks**
  Use `list` instead of `List` for type annotation
  Use `dict` instead of `Dict` for type annotation
  Use `tuple` instead of `Tuple` for type annotation
  
  This is because the minimum supported version has been moved from 3.8 to
  3.9
  

- **fix node mapping, update deps**
  This fixes #9 
  - run release only on main
  - fix typing**
  - fix tests / lint errors
