Reduce allocations in compaction, flushing, and query paths (#40)

* Reduce allocations on sync, query, and compact paths.

Reuse writer buffers, cache compact misses, and avoid multipart uploads plus redundant S3 stats so hot paths allocate less and sync finishes faster.
