Add validation of region param.
This checks the region against a quite generic regular expression
'^[a-z]{2}-[a-z]+-[0-9]$'

Fix the tests, many were using an invalid region ('myregion',
'my_region'). This is not allowed anymore. Now using 'aa-fakeregion-1',
which is valid enough for the regular expression.

Add a test for the region validation.
